M3 Flanged Cap

The M3 Flanged Cap is a popular choice and stocked in most sizes from M3 to M12, with varying flange diameters to cater for different customer needs. Normal reasons customers require the ring around the stud are an earthing point or a pivot point.

Flanged Caps are one of many solutions supplied by AFAC for masking products and assemblies during metal fabrication and finishing processes. AFAC has supplied high temperature masking supplies into the manufacturing sector for over 35 years.

The M3 Flanged Cap are manufactured from temperature resistant silicone rubber. Silicone Rubber is re-usable and you can expect to get many hundreds of cycles through the recommended metal finishing processes. BAKEWELL silicone rubber parts are colour coded on popular metric sizes for ease of identification. They can be used in many finishing operations such as electro-static powder coating, Cerakote®, E-Coat, anodising & plating.

Application of the M3 Flanged Cap is simply to push over the stud after any pre-cleaning operations, processing, and pull off after stoving, preferably while still hot. Any coating build up can be removed by rubbing between finger and thumb, or by rumbling.

IMPORTANT: Silicone rubber doesn’t react well with solvents and other pre-cleaning chemicals. Masks can also trap pre-cleaning chemicals which can then cause quality defects to your finishing processes. MAKES SURE MASKS ARE APPLIED AFTER PRE FINISHING ONLY.
